Associate Professor in Business Ethics

About the position

NHH invites applicants for an associate professor position in the Ethics, Economics and Law Research Group within the Department of Accounting, Auditing and Law. The group studies the behavior and misbehavior of individuals (managers, employees, investors) and organizations with a specific focus on the responses to legal frameworks and other formal regulation. Its current research themes include corruption, law enforcement and punishment, international taxation (particularly tax avoidance), entrepreneurship and sustainable investments.

We seek to fill the position with an experienced researcher with an excellent record of accomplishments in research and teaching. The candidate should have a PhD in economics or business administration, publications in top business ethics journals (and/or publications on social responsibility in trade and investment in other well-ranked journals), and possess a portfolio of projects with clear potential to be published in top journals. To strengthen the research group in Economics, Ethics and Law we need a candidate with confirmed competence in quantitative empirical research, microeconomics and ethical theory. We want to build up our research on how regulations at the national or international level contribute to or discourage ethical business practice. Therefore, we seek in particular a candidate with confirmed competence on business risk - especially in countries with limited transparency and weak governance institutions, and an understanding of how business contributes to remove or create impediments to development internationally, including challenges related to corruption and tax havens. Knowledge about regulations, subsidies, and/or sanctions for the sake of promoting ethical business is appreciated.

In addition to research activities, the position involve teaching, supervision and some administrative work. The candidate who is hired will be expected to teach in courses in business ethics and corporate responsibility at bachelor and master level, and should have experience from teaching these topics. To serve the teaching needs of the department, applicant’s Scandinavian language skills are preferred.

The best-qualified applicant(s) will be invited for an interview and to present a paper at the Department. In the assessment of applicants, international experience and qualifications will be emphasised. In the event of equivalent qualifications, female applicants will be given preference.

The salary will be negotiable within the Norwegian State Salary Scale for associate professors. External research grants and teaching in executive programs offer opportunities for supplementing this salary.
