At the Department of Economics at SLU, we conduct research in business administration and economics. We also teach human management and sustainable use of biological natural resources. There are three professors within the subject of business administration who specialise in business management, production economics and organisation and management of food-related value chains and networks. We are now looking for another committed colleague to strengthen SLU’s profile in relation to agricultural businesses and rural development.

Subject description

The subject comprises business administration with a specialisation in entrepreneurship relevant to agricultural businesses and rural development.


The successful applicant must
  • develop and lead an internationally recognised and successful research group;
  • develop and lead education at all levels, including doctoral education;
  • supervise doctoral students;
  • cooperate with others at the department as well as other departments within and outside SLU;
  • develop and maintain national and international networks with researchers, industry/businesses and society in general, which includes communicating research and findings;
  • actively apply for research funding at national and international level.
In addition to teaching entrepreneurship, teaching adjoining business administration subjects at undergraduate level may be included in the position. Administrative duties are also included.

  • The applicant must
  • have scientific expertise within the employment subject;
  • have demonstrated the ability to manage and develop a successful research team;
  • have a degree of doctor, docent qualification or equivalent;
  • have the capacity to acquire external research funding;
  • be skilled in pedagogics, and
  • be able to integrate teaching applications into the role of researcher.
Assessment criteria

The appointment assessment criteria are primarily the degree of the expertise required as a qualification for employment. Previous experience of rural-related issues is a strong advantage. The following research expertise will be taken into consideration:
  • ongoing research;
  • ability to independently initiate and conduct innovative research, and
  • capacity to acquire external research funding.
The following teaching expertise will be taken into consideration:
  • planning, implementing and evaluating teaching;
  • supervision and examination.
In addition, the following expertise is taken into consideration:
  • developing and managing operations and university staff,
  • cooperating with society;
  • providing information about research development work.
As much attention will be given to the assessment of teaching expertise as to the assessment of research expertise.
