Interested and qualified candidates should submit the following to lxiyang@mail.sysu.edu.cn:

  1. Resume since college with a list of research projects, publications and awards in the past five years;
  2. Research proposal after joining SYSU;
  3. At least three recommendation letters by distinguished scholars in the same field at home and abroad (including contact information of recommenders).

Positions and Salaries

Chair Professors of “Chang Jiang Scholars Program”

Qualifications

  1. Applicants should have been working in the front line of teaching and scientific researching at overseas universities.
  2. Applicants are supposed to hold the position of Professor or other equivalent positions at prestigious universities, and possess profound academic attainments, be influential in their own disciplines, and obtain well-recognized achievements in the world.
  3. If employed, applicants should work in the university for at least 2 months per year.

Salaries and Benefits

  1. Favorable conditions for studying and living in accordance with some government regulations.
  2. A bonus of 30,000 yuan each month, which is paid according to the actual working months.

Distinguished Professors of “Chang Jiang Scholars Program”

Qualifications

  1. Applicants should hold a Ph.D. degree and have been working in the front line of teaching and scientific researching.
  2. Applicants should be competent to teach core courses.
  3. Applicants should possess profound academic attainments with academic achievements generally acknowledged by peer scholars at home and abroad. They should have great potentials in future development, innovative concepts and strategic thinking, and the ability to lead their disciplines to approach, maintain or surpass the internationally advanced levels.
  4. Applicants should below the age of 45 for natural sciences and the age of 55 for humanities and social sciences on January 1 of the year of their applicatio.
  5. Foreign applicants are normally expected to have assumed the position not lower than Assistant Professor or other equivalent positions at prestigious universities, while domestic candidates are supposed to hold the position of Professor or other equivalent positions.
  6. If employed, applicants should work full time in the university within a year of signing the contract.

Salaries and Benefits

  1. Insurance as well as welfare provided by the university in line with relevant government regulations.
  2. A post allowance of 200,000 yuan per year with decent salary.

Scholars of 100 Top Talents Program

Qualifications

  1. Experts and scholars with high academic attainments and outstanding achievements in relevant fields.
  2. Academic leaders and specialists with advanced professional level in relevant disciplinary fields. 3.Ph.D. degree holders with good qualities and great development potentials and graduated from prestigious universities or research institutes at home and abroad, or tutored by famous professors. Applicants in natural sciences, engineering and medical sciences should be under 35 years old, and in social sciences and humanities, under 40 years old.

Salaries and Benefits

  1. Research Start-up Grants: talents of social sciences and humanities will receive grants of 10,000-1,000,000 RMB. For those with special needs in the research projects, the research grants can be allocated accordingly.
  2. Allowances: a certain amount of settling allowances for the invited talents.
  3. Offices and Laboratories provided by related schools and departments.
  4. Salaries and Fringe Benefits: Talents invited from Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and overseas, after obtaining the residence permit, can settle the salary and fringe benefits procedures according to related regulations.
  5. Allocation of Research Assistants: the invited leading experts of the 100 Top Talents Program can be allocated research assistants.
  6. In the 985 Project and other key research projects, the University will introduce the Principal Investigators (PI) who will preside over related projects. The salary for the PI will be determined and affirmed in other regulations according to the actual situation.

Research Fellows

Qualifications

  • For Distinguished Researcher: lecturer, assistant professor or of equivalent or higher positions at domestic/overseas prestigious colleges/universities or research institutes.
  • For Distinguished Associate Researcher: excellent doctor or post-doctor at domestic/overseas prestigious colleges/universities or research institutes.

Salaries and Benefits

  1. Competitive salaries and benefits in their respective fields in accordance with the market economy principle. Remuneration for specially-appointed researchers and associate researchers ranges from 190,000—360,000 RMB/year.
  2. The research team will reward its researchers with bonuses for his/her contributions within the employment.

Postdoctoral Position

  1. Applicants should hold Ph.D. degrees from prestigious universities ranking within 100 globally.
  2. Applicants should below the age of 35.
