Full Time Professor of Computer Science

The University Camilo José Cela (UCJC) is a private university established in 2000 and based in Madrid, Spain. It has two campuses: a main campus located in the Madrid suburb Villafranca del Castillo and the city campus on Calle Almagro that serves as the headquarters for the UCJC Graduate School. A student-centered institution, UCJC is committed to innovation, interdisciplinary collaboration and international experiences for faculty and students. UCJC has three integrated faculties (Communication and Humanities, Education and Health, and Technology and Science).

UCJC invites applications for a position as a Computer Science Full Time Professor. The new position would teach several courses in different majors such as Business and Technology, Urban Management, Digital Arts and Communication, among others. Faculty members at UCJC should teach, carry out their own research agenda and provide administrative services to the department and faculties they work with.

Applicants should have expertise in programming (C, Python, SQL, JavaScript, CSS, HTML, PHP), operating systems, computer architecture and computer security. Candidates must be committed to undergraduate education and must be able to teach introductory programming classes. The teaching load will be flexible according to the academic and professional profile of the candidate and institutional needs. The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to students and learning at a liberal arts and sciences university. Service responsibilities include student advising and mentoring and taking an active role in curriculum design. All faculty members at UCJC are committed to perform a certain amount of administrative tasks such as assisting in the courses coordination or representing the university in national and international forums.  

CONTRACT TYPE: Twelve-month, full-time.


  • Doctorate (ABD will be considered with degree in hand by September 1, 2019) in the area of computer science or closely related field.
  • Fluency in English and some level of Spanish.
  • Evidence of successful college-level teaching.
  • Evidence of potential in the area of scholarship/creative activity.
  • A commitment to interdisciplinary, academic service and active learning methodology is desirable.


  • Evidence of commitment to retention and student-success initiatives.
  • Evidence of successful outreach and community engagement.
  • Professional experience in computer science and/or research potential.

SALARY RANGE: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.

RELOCATION ASSISTANCE: Relocation assistance (including housing, schools for children and courses on Spanish language and culture, among other support) will be provided by UCJC to new faculty relocating to commence an appointment with the University.

STARTING DATE: September 1, 2019.
