Turku School of Economics, Unit of Pori opens a position of

ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR (TENURE TRACK) IN BUSINESS AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP

This position is a donation from Satakunnan korkeakoulusäätiö and it has collected the funds from companies, communities and towns in the region. The associate professor will work in close cooperation with the Satakunta region’s universities and will be actively involved in the development of entrepreneurship in the region.

The regional interaction and multidisciplinary knowledge is highlighted in the Pori Unit. The Pori Unit of Turku School of Economics is part of the University of Turku and network of universities is Satakunta region. There are about 50 full-time employees, 600 degree students and 30 doctoral candidates in the Pori Unit.

The post will be filled through a tenure track system first as fixed-term employment period as an Associate Professor.  The tenure track system of the University of Turku is clarified in more detail in the Appointment Specification. The tenure track Associate Professor position is intended for a high-level researcher, whose qualifications indicate substantial scientific potential.

The duties of the Associate Professor include conducting and supervising scientific research, research-based teaching, staying up-to-date with the most current scientific developments congruent with the subject description, professional and institutional networking, as well as participating in societal interaction and international cooperation in the field. Additionally Associate Professor in this post will work in close cooperation with companies and other actors in the region.

The Associate Professor will support the multidisciplinary education modules and related research of the Unit. Additionally the Associate Professor will actively apply for external funding and manage projects. The Associate Professor is expected to actively develop the Unit and to take care of university administration duties and other tasks appointed to him/her.

Networking and the so-called third task of universities (societal interaction) is highlighted in Pori Unit and this requires abilities to interact with different actors and enhance societal effectiveness of research findings and results. The emphasis of the research of the Unit is on expert work, expert services and managing expert networks. When assessing the practical capabilities of the applicants, emphasis will be put on work experience in the area in question or research cooperation with economic life.
