About us

The School of Economics, Finance and Property is seeking to appoint Teaching and Research Academics and a Teaching focused Academics. Teaching and Research Academics will contribute to both teaching and research at Curtin.  Teaching focussed Academics will concentrate on delivering high quality teaching and pedagogical innovation.

The School offers a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs in finance, banking and property.  Continually fine-tuned to keep them relevant, our courses provide students with an intellectually stimulating educational experience. The School has an ambitious world-standard research agenda in finance and, through this, aims to provide a learning environment that combines high quality and innovative teaching practices. Strong industry links and a very successful record of demand driven research are key features of the property discipline and we are looking for an academic who can contribute across both areas.

Your new role – Teaching and Research


In this position, you will make significant contributions across the discipline of Finance in both teaching and research.  In turn, the school will support your ambitions to progress your career through its collegial and supportive environment. In particular, in this role, the School wishes to recruit someone who would have an interest in teaching across a range of areas in Finance but in particular, Behavioural Finance. 
In addition, the School is particularly interested in boosting its number of CFA Charter holders we employ.

You will bring to the role

  • A doctoral qualification in Finance.
  • Established teaching skills and a demonstrated reflective approach to teaching delivery.
  • Demonstrated experience and skills to undertake unit coordination and administration.
  • A record of research outputs in quality refereed academic journals/outlets.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise Honours students.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with a commitment to the development of a collegial and supportive working environment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to applying relevant and applicable policies, procedures and legislation in the day-to-day performance of the functions of this position.
  • The ability to interact with students and staff with cross cultural sensitivity.

  • A strong understanding of pedagogical theory and contemporary educational practice relevant to the discipline and a commitment to scholarship in learning and teaching.
  • Demonstrated experience and skills to undertake unit coordination and administration.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with a commitment to the development of a collegial and supportive working environment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to applying relevant and applicable policies, procedures and legislation in the day-to-day performance of the functions of this position.
  • The ability to interact with students and staff with cross cultural sensitivity.
