LUT School of Business and Management is looking for a professor in accounting.

The position is situated at the assistant/associate professor levels of the tenure track and will be filled for a fixed term of four years.

The position is open to key areas of accounting and the appointed candidate is thus expected to have expertise in financial accounting and/or management accounting. The ability to collaborate and conduct research beyond traditional disciplines is considered as an advantage. Considering the major trends in accounting and especially the digital disruption in the field, we value a strong vision on the development of accounting education as well as knowledge of and practical experience in using digital accounting information systems. LUT School Business and Management has a Finnish-language Master’s Programme in Accounting and an undergraduate specialisation field in accounting to which the assistant/associate professor of accounting is expected to contribute.

The field of the professorship, accounting, may include (but is not limited to) the following areas:

  • accounting and financial statements, financial statement planning
  • international financial reporting standards and international accounting
  • digitalisation of business in general and specifically connected to financial management
  • management accounting and accounting for sustainable development
  • accounting theory, ethics and research.

The person appointed to the professorship is expected to present research merits in one of the areas mentioned above and proof of successful research projects and research collaboration. Documented ongoing corporate collaboration is considered an advantage for the applicant.

The duties include research at a high international level and developing and providing basic and advanced education based on it in the key areas of accounting. The position also entails the acquisition of external research funding in different collaboration networks.
