Vacancy Type

1 Assistant professor with a fixed-term employment contract full-time for the three-year – according to art. 24 paragraph 3 letter a) (junior) of Law no. 240/2010. Sector competition reference 13/B1 – Economia Aziendale, sector SECS-P/7 – Economia Aziendale/Business Administration and Accounting Studies. An annual gross total amount equal to € 35.733,00.

Introduction

The Alma Mater Studiorum University of Bologna was founded in 1088, and it is considered the oldest university in the Western World. The University of Bologna boasts over 87000 students enrolled, 32 Departments, 5 Schools, 5 Campuses, and nearly 6000 employed as instructors or support staff. UNIBO offers 78 international degree programs, 62 of which are delivered in English, 47 Ph.D. programs, 53 specialization schools, and 80 Master's programs. This heterogeneous nature, diversified structure, and investment in the professionalization of support services ensure reliable institutional support for the research teams. The researcher position will be hosted by the Department of Management (DiSA) that coordinates several undergraduates, Master's programs, to which the candidate is invited to contribute. Additionally, since 1992, DiSA offers a Ph.D. program in Management. The Department of Management at the University of Bologna provides a dynamic research environment where faculty members and distinguished visitors conduct both applied and theoretical research in all areas. A unique insight into the entrepreneurial and innovation processes, which involve the major societal changes. The Department of Management ranks first among the Italian Departments in the area of Economics, Management, and Statistics (according to the 2018 "Dipartimenti di Eccellenza” project).

The GIOCA_Research group within the business Administration (Scienze Aziendali) area covers a broad range of topics, including management and accounting of arts organizations, to generate insights to contribute to the advancement of the debate and to provide actionable managerial tools.
The main research areas refer to:

  • Dialogue and conflict between professional and managerial values
  • Organizational identity and identification in arts organizations
  • Budgeting and planning in arts organizations
  • Decision making
  • Strategic change
  • Human Resources in arts organizations.

Activities to be performed

The contract comprises 350 hours of supplementary teaching and assistance to students for each academic year covered by the contract, including 60 hours of teaching on an annual basis. The researcher should be able to speak both English and Italian. The researcher’s activities must be linked to the project entitled: “Assistant professor in Business administration and accounting studies”, in particular to the development of the European Project H2020 (Job Reference Number: 870793) UNCHARTED dealing with: “Understanding, capturing and fostering the societal value of culture". Furthermore, both didactic and research activities will be preferably focused on arts management.

The researcher’s activities must be linked to the fields included in the scientific area 13/B1. The research activity must aim at the attainment of a first-rate academic profile, including the publication of papers in international journals.

We encourage the researcher to a target to be reached at the end of the three years consisting either in at least 1 article ranked in classes 3, 4 or 4* according to the classification of the Association of Business Schools (ABS) Journal Quality Guide, or in a cumulated SJR (SCIMAGO Journal Rank) index greater or equal to 2,3, or a number of 12 Scopus citations in the last five years. It is also expected that research results be presented internationally. The researcher must participate consistently to the department activities and contribute significantly to their enhancement.

Ranking List and recruitment

After the exams, the Board shall prepare the final general list based on the merits. The list based on merits is approved pursuant to the administration resolution and will be published in Alma Mater Studiorum – University of Bologna Official Bulletin. The use of the final candidate list is strictly bound to study and research related to the scientific sector SSD SECS-P/07 – Business Administration. The Department of Management will propose recruitment by a majority vote of the professors and associate professors of the Department and approved by the Board of Governors. The Department will also propose the date of commencement of the employment contract.
