We are seeking for

We are looking for a Senior Researcher in Sustainable Logistics to play a major role in shaping KLU's new Center for Sustainable Logistics and Supply Chains. The Center was recently founded in collaboration with Kuehne+Nagel to make a measurable impact on logistics' sustainability performance through original research and its transfer into industry practice.

Your responsibilities

You will become a major part of the Center and help build and expand it to a global knowledge hub for sustainable logistics. On a strategic level, you will work closely together with the Director of the Center, Dr. Moritz Petersen, and the Senior Adviser, Prof. Alan McKinnon, on mapping out the Center's future activities. On an operational level, you will play an active role in conducting sustainability-focused research and developing corresponding outreach formats. You will identify the right opportunities for external funding and preparing project proposals to grow the Center and the impact it makes. You will represent the Center and its research at conferences and other online and offline networking opportunities.

We offer

We offer a unique opportunity to play a leading role in shaping an impactful research organization right from the start. The successful candidate will receive an attractive salary based on the German salary system for public universities and an annual research budget. The position is available for two years (with a possibility for extension) and will start as soon as possible.

Your qualifications

First and foremost, we are looking for a passionate, driven person who wants to make a difference in current logistics and supply chain practices. You should have a Ph.D. in logistics, operations management, or a related field. Experiences around third-party funded research and a good understanding of the challenges companies face regarding sustainability would be helpful. Very good written and verbal communication skills (English) are a must, and advanced German skills would be a plus.

Contact

We are excited to receive and review your application! It should include a cover letter describing your experiences and research interests, a detailed CV, and contact details of references.

You may contact the Director of the Center, Dr. Moritz Petersen (moritz.petersen@the-klu.org,  +49 40 328707-204), for further inquiries. Review of applications starts immediately, and the position will remain open until a successful candidate is found.
