ROLE PURPOSE: To have overall management responsibility for the operational delivery of the Academy’s interventions in teaching and learning, research, dialogues and events. To develop and market innovative and high quality entrepreneurship education courses which meet the learning needs of the target market; build strong, lasting relationships with assigned key accounts and lead the team of professionals who are responsible for designing and delivering the portfolio of programmes and events.  The role reports to the Director: Entrepreneurship Development Academy.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Oversee the portfolio of entrepreneurship programmes, research and events, which includes making strategic recommendations of programmes, research and events that should form part of the portfolio in accordance to EDA and GIBS strategy, quality control to ensure GIBS standards are met, developing and monitoring relevant budgets, and management/coaching of the team
  • With the Director: EDA, Marketing and NBD teams, and other relevant team members, design customised and innovative programmes for public and private sector partners; market, write proposals, contract and invoice for the same
  • Oversee the efficient delivery of the academic and support programmes through the EDA management team, including overseeing the sourcing of the right local and international faculty to teach/speak on the programmes
  • Evaluate and understand the learning needs of the entrepreneurship community and the changes taking place in the market which impact on the success of the existing portfolio of programmes/events
  • Support the Marketing/NBD team, and the school Marketing and Client Development teams, to ensure that appropriate marketing activities, marketing material and client development systems are created
  • Together with the M & E team, ensure that the programmes are achieving the envisaged impact; have this measured and reported to the Director: EDA, clients and other relevant stakeholders, as approved
  • Developing and maintaining positive relationships with faculty, speakers, corporates, government clients and delegates and managing the GIBS brand.
  • As the primary relationship manager, develop and enhance working relationships with assigned key accounts to gain an in-depth understanding of the business and small business development needs, develop a strategy to grow the relationship, optimize quality of services delivered and monitor customer satisfaction
  • Ensure good financial governance of the unit through monitoring and management of the payments, invoicing, and the debtor’s book
  • Work on the development of the research portfolio of the unit with credible and high quality research faculty and associates
  • Support the EDA management team by offering coaching and mentoring relating to technical aspects of each business area
  • Support to the Director: Entrepreneurship Development Academy
  • Represent EDA on MANCO and provide the relevant input and reporting


Ideal Profile

  • Masters graduate (preferably MBA) with an excellent track record (minimum 10 years) in either entrepreneurship education, small business development or entrepreneurship consulting experience in a top 5 consultancy, with at least five years on a management level
  • Candidates must have an interest and experience in Entrepreneurship Education or Enterprise & Supplier Development.
  • Candidates must have proven experience of designing and delivering high impact and holistic learning programmes to varying levels and types of entrepreneurs.

  • Well-developed leadership skills to lead a team of professionals and to be able to engage and form relationships with GIBS’s global faculty cadre
  • Computer literacy – MS Word and Excel at an intermediate level
  • Listening skills (attending to, hearing and understanding the explicit and implied content and emotions contained in someone’s spoken message; detecting key points and issues; and communicating to the other  that they have been heard and understood)
