Job Description

Graduate School of Management St. Petersburg University (GSOM SPbU) is looking to hire a Senior Lecturer, Associate and Full Professor in Public Digital Transformation, Urban Territory Development.

The appointments are for permanent positions and contracts will be made up to three years in the first instance, starting in September 2021, with reviews of teaching and research at the end of each year.

The position will offer internationally competitive teaching loads; research resources and a university environment that fosters multidisciplinary collaboration and research productivity. The candidate will have the opportunity to participate in doctoral supervision as well as offer electives in the university’s Executive MBA in areas of the candidate’s research interests.


Candidates must possess a Ph.D. in the field of economics, mathematics or related disciplines. All degree requirements must be complete at the commencement of the appointment. The degree must be from a Ph.D. program with a strong research focus. Priority will be given to those candidates with a proven ability to conduct high-level research.

As a candidate, you should have a research background in any of the areas of public policy, regulation, urban development, digital transformation and have an interest in conducting research that has practical implications for organizations. The successful applicant will be expected to publish scholarly research in high quality academic journals, demonstrate superior teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and advise bachelor, master students or supervise doctoral students.

We especially seek candidates with an international academic background to further enrich faculty diversity and international profile. A focus on urban open data management is particularly welcome.

For junior position applicants must demonstrate clear potential and commitment to scholarly research; evidence of teaching excellence and course development; ability to combine research productivity with involvement in course development.

For senior position applications must demonstrate a record of and commitment to scholarly research through publications in high-ranked international peer-reviewed journals; evidence of teaching excellence, course and curriculum development, including teaching in executive education.

For Senior Lecturer not less than 1 year in teaching is required, for senior positions - not less than 3 years (confirmed by official labor contract). Experience from designing and delivering courses, as well as from coaching student projects is considered a merit. Teaching (in English) falls within the sought-after areas on all educational levels (from Bachelor to Executive Education). Supervision of master and/or doctoral students is considered part of the job.

Candidates are also expected to be actively involved in various processes at school, interaction with faculty members, attracting external research funding, contribution to school’s strategic planning and strategy execution, committee work and other services.


Remuneration will be based on the applicant's academic qualifications and experience. We offer monthly salary (salaries are competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience and are set individually). Successful candidates will be offered a highly competitive compensation package. Additionally, travel grants and individual and joint research grants can be provided.
