Case Center Manager

The job and its goal

We are looking for an expert in case writing to direct our case center and help us make it the best in the MENA region. We have high-level access to organizations and top managers, and the resources to achieve our ambitions.

HEC Paris in Qatar

HEC Paris in Qatar is a branch campus of HEC Paris and operates under the same standards of excellence. Our campus was established in 2010 through an agreement between HEC Paris and Qatar Foundation and our mission is to serve the needs of businesses established in the region through the development of Executive Education and world-class relevant research, to help Qatar in its transition to a knowledge economy, and to do so with the excellence that is expected from HEC.

HEC is a world-class school. The Financial Times ranked us as the top (#1) school in Europe; our Executive MBA, also taught in Doha, #1 worldwide (2019); and our Executive Education, also taught in Doha, #2 in the world (2020). We are consistently ranked among the world´s top schools in a wide variety of rankings and using several metrics, including student satisfaction, goals achieved, and salary increase after our programs. HEC Paris in Qatar is part of Education City, a thriving academic community also comprising Carnegie Mellon University, Georgetown University School of Foreign Services, Northwestern School of Journalism and Communication, Texas A&M University School of Engineering, Qatar Faculty of Islamic Studies, University College London, Virginia Commonwealth School of Design, and Weill Cornell Medical College.

The role

The successful applicant is expected to write cases on an ongoing basis in collaboration with faculty in Doha and in Paris. As well, the candidate will lead the process of building a top-quality repository of case studies with a focus on Qatar and the GCC. After gaining an in-depth understanding of our programs, the candidate will drive the strategy for publishing and marketing of cases, strategic collaborations, quality control, training of future case writers and jointly enhancing the innovative use of cases (e.g., via interactive, web-based versions). The candidate can also co-author academic research with our Faculty.

The profile

In order to further grow the number of case studies used in our custom, open and degree programs, we are looking for an experienced case writer who loves language and makes words swoon and paragraphs sing. The ideal candidate has created innovative case studies including teaching notes and successfully submitted them to international case clearing houses, case competitions or case journals. The ability to write impeccable prose is obviously a plus, as is a love for literature in general as we believe that reading is a necessary first step to produce captivating narratives.

S/he is able to work effectively with a variety of faculty members, sometimes independently. S/he can support or lead parts or entire case writing projects from negotiating access to companies, conducting interviews, write case drafts together with faculty members, finalize and edit drafts, and work towards case releases. Experience in editing case books is a plus. The applicant has earned a Ph.D. or an MBA or equivalent advanced degree from a top university and can write cases in different business disciplines. The language of work and case publishing is English, so we expect the person to have extraordinary writing skills and be capable of expressing her or his ideas with elegance and in a concise manner. Advanced numeracy is required. French and Arabic are not required and while wonderful to have, aren´t a plus for this position.

This job is based in beautiful Doha, Qatar, and the compensation plus benefits are enticing.
