Associate / Full Professor in Performance Management Systems

LUT School of Engineering Science is looking for a professor in performance management systems.

The position is situated at the associate/full professor levels of the tenure track and will be filled for a fixed term of four years (associate professor) or permanently (full professor).

The department of Engineering and Industrial Management at LUT is a community of approximately 80 researchers and educators, including 15 professors, and is the largest of its kind in Finland. The research and education at the department focus on innovation and technology management, entrepreneurship, supply chain and operations management, cost and performance management, and systems engineering. The department’s research activities cover a large variety of application areas from health services to industrial asset management.

We are looking for a professor of performance management systems specialising in the challenges and opportunities of digitalisation in business performance management. The position is based in Lahti, Finland.

The professorship will reinforce the school's performance management research and education. Education in the field will in the future focus more on the challenges and opportunities of digitalisation in performance management.

The person appointed to the position must present strong research merits in the measurement, analysis and management of business performance.

For instance, the following application or topic areas are considered an advantage:

• challenges and opportunities of digitalisation
• digital transformation of SMEs
• measurement and management of sustainable business
• performance measurement and indicators and their implementation.

The person appointed to the professorship must also present strong proof of successful project work, funding acquisition, and research collaboration with SMEs. Experience of the Finnish business environment is considered an advantage.

The duties include education at the Bachelor's and Master's levels in the key areas of performance management. The professor will teach e.g. in the TUDI programme, where performance management is a major subject and therefore essential.

The duties related to the field of research also include the following:

• planning and implementation of undergraduate and postgraduate education
• supervision of final theses and postgraduate studies
• active collaboration with businesses – especially SMEs
• collaboration with actors in the Lahti region
• participation in regional and national development projects as an expert
• preparation and management of national and international research and education projects
• high-impact international research
• increasing awareness in a way that serves industry and the economy
• taking part in the preparation of projects in other LUT units as an expert
• general administrative work related to the university's operation.

The salary is determined according to the salary system for university teaching and research personnel. The pay will include an individual pay component based on performance and competence.  The annual salary range of associate professor will be approximately 42000–79200 euros (gross income, including holiday bonus) and of full professors 68400–103200 euros depending on the qualifications and experience of the candidate.
