About the position

NHH in Bergen, Norway, invites applications for a position as Assistant Professor in Management Control at the Department of Accounting, Auditing and Law. The position will be related to the Centre for Digital Business and Audit.

The centre addresses and investigates the potential and consequences of digitalization for organizations. For this position we are especially interested in how digitalization interacts with issues of control. The candidate will be part of a multi-disciplinary team consisting of researchers with a background from both accounting and information system. The duration of the contract for this position is four years.

We are seeking early career candidates with a PhD in accounting or a related social science, preferably with qualitative method background and on a theme linked to the research centre’s topics (e.g. information and knowledge systems, performance evaluation and control, or digital eco-systems). Candidates with papers that are published or near publication in accounting journals will be given priority.

The candidate will be given the opportunity to become an active citizen of the Centre for Digital Business and Audit, for instance, by taking a role in the organization of workshops and seminars or participating in public outreach.

The applicants will be assessed based on an overall evaluation of documented professional competence and a doctoral degree from an accredited institution is required. Scientific competence will be evaluated in terms of the amount and quality of research and the ability to publish in leading academic journals.

Faculty members at NHH are expected to be good teachers. Candidates must be fluent in English, and preferably, also in a Scandinavian language. The appointee is expected to be involved in teaching on average of one course per year and do some student supervision in degree programs at bachelor, masters and PhD levels. Formal pedagogical education and practical experience with teaching will count positively for the job.

Salary is negotiable according to Norwegian State Salary Scale for Assistant Professor. External research grants and teaching in executive programs offer opportunities for supplementing this salary.
