The Faculty of Law, Economics and Finance offers three Bachelor programmes, four Master programmes of Management and Economics and six Masters of Laws (LL.M.), as well as several continuing education courses. It also includes the Doctoral School in Law and the Doctoral School in Economics and Finance. Around 2,500 students from 90 different nationalities are enrolled at the Faculty. Rooted in Luxembourg but with a European and international outlook, the Faculty counts three departments:

Your Role...

The Chair in Digital Procurement at the Department of Economics and Management within the Faculty of Law, Economics and Finance of the University of Luxembourg has an opening for 1 postdoctoral researcher (Postdoc) in Digital Procurement.

The candidate will be affiliated with the Chair in Digital Procurement at the Luxembourg Centre for Logistics and Supply Chain Management (LCL) which is a member of the MIT SCALE network.

The candidate will collaborate with global procurement organizations of Luxembourg’s “CPO Club” (ArcelorMittal, Amazon, Delphi, Ferrero, Leaseplan, SES, Vodafone).

Your Role

The candidate is required to

  • work on research that can be published in leading international journals,
  • offer a course within the Track in Digital Procurement,
  • support the chair with supervising master thesis projects,
  • contribute to grant proposals for PPP projects with industry,
  • prepare and give presentations at international conferences,
  • work self-responsibly and independently.

What we expect from you…

  • A doctoral degree in Operations Research / Operations Management or related fields (e.g. Mathematics, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science),
  • Interest in topics surrounding digital procurement (digital platforms, analytics, work automation),
  • Interest in research in decision-making under uncertainty (stochastic programming, robust optimization, reinforcement learning),
  • Very good programming skills (Python, Java, C++, Julia, …),
  • Good understanding of data engineering and machine learning,
  • Good understanding of mathematical and statistical workbenches (Python, Julia. MATLAB, R),
  • Extensive experience with optimization software (e.g., Coin-OR, Cplex, Gurobi, Mosek, Xpress),
  • Good command of English (business fluent, written and spoken), experience in software development is a bonus.
