Job description

You can participate, either part-time or full-time, in the teaching of the above-mentioned bachelor and MSc programmes. Mentoring students is also part of the responsibilities, as is thesis supervision.

We encourage (recently) graduated MSc and PhD students from relevant fields to apply. Teaching tasks are dependent on qualifications. Lecturers with a MSc degree will mainly be involved in tutorials, course coordination, marking, mentoring, bachelor thesis supervision and course development. The same holds for lecturers with a PhD degree, who additionally teach in master courses and supervise master students on their thesis project.

Courses are led by experienced teachers, who act as supervisors for junior staff members. We offer a stimulating environment, where you can continuously improve and expand your teaching skills.

Depending on interests, experience, and qualifications, a maximum of 20% of the workload will be allocated to research. The duration of the part-time or full-time appointments is between 1 and 3 years.

Qualifications

Organisation

The department of Operations, University of Groningen, offers multiple positions for dedicated and hardworking Lecturers within our department, 1.0 FTE in total.

Department Operations

The department of Operations is one of the largest European research groups on operations, with focal areas in Operations Management (OM), Operations Research (OR), and Industrial Engineering (IE). The department has over 40 scientific staff members and around 25 PhD and PD researchers. Its research publications cover the full range of journals for the field, including Journal of Operations Management, Management Science, Journal of Supply Chain Management, and Transportation Science. The department builds on a strong position in international research networks in organising conferences, and participating in working groups and projects. Staff members are involved in successful and accredited bachelor and master programmes in Supply Chain Management, Technology Operations Management, Operations Research, and Business Administration. They also take part in Research Master and PhD training at both the institutional and national level. The central research issue in our department is operations and supply chain planning. Topics include but are not limited to supply chain integration, sustainability, service supply chains, supply chain resilience, health care operations, sustainable transport and sustainable energy supply. Methodological approaches range from empirical (case studies, surveys) to simulation and (applied) OR.

Conditions of employment

We offer you in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities:

  • a starting salary depending on qualifications and work experience from a minimum of € 2,790 gross per month (salary scale 10) to a maximum of € 5,127 gross per month (scale 11) for a full-time position
  • 8% holiday allowance and 8.3% year-end bonus and participation in a pension scheme for employees; favourable tax agreements may apply to non-Dutch applicants
  • contracts for 1 to 3 years can be discussed. The percentage of research time depends on your expertise and qualities, with a maximum of 20%.
