Transnational Academic Group (TAG)– has successfully delivered programs in academic partnership with some of the world’s top ranked institutions, seeing over 2000 graduates across Africa and the Middle East.  The Group is currently recruiting into several faculty positions for its Schools of Business and Humanities, Computer Science, and Engineering at its campus in Dubai in academic partnership with Curtin University in Perth, Western Australia. Two immediate positions open include the Head of School of Business and Humanities, and a fulltime faculty member for Cyber Security.

1] Key Responsibilities of Head of School of Business and Humanities includes:

Teaching & Learning, Management, Research and Service

  • Facilitate three to four units every trimester
  • Play an integral role in the Research Committee, Board of Examiners (BOE), Teaching and Learning Committee, Exco, and Academic Board
  • Actively participate in interviews and the selection process for academic staff within the School; mentor and advise new members within the School, conduct Staff observations and performance appraisals
  • Recommend appropriate teaching allocations within the School
  • Conduct Staff observations and performance appraisals
  • Devise and implement training for academic staff that are relevant to their respective discipline
  • Establish and maintain agreements/partnerships with relevant professional societies and industry contacts
  • Organize industry visits and/or lectures/seminars/workshops from professionals in relevant fields
  • Consistently produce quality research and participate in relevant conferences as a representative of CU Dubai
  • Ensure all School activities are carried out to the highest possible standard and ensure the successful daily operations of all units within the School
  • Liaise with the home campus on academic matters
  • Detect and counsel at-risk students and refer students to the Student Success Centre as necessary
  • Conduct Peer Review of Educational Practice and de-brief sessions for all academic staff within the School
  • Produce an analysis of units once a trimester (after the BOE) which highlights units with high failure rates and implement strategies for improvement
  • Analyze student feedback, conduct student satisfaction reviews, and address the concerns with the relevant departments
  • Support the University outreach team with branding and recruitment activities pertaining to the School
  • Support the Admissions Teams with counselling perspective students and participation in recruitment activities

Skills & Experience required:

  • An earned PhD in Marketing or a closely related field
  • At least 5 years teaching experience in a university
  • A track record of publications in ABDC indexed journals with several publications within the past five years and presenting research within your subject area in ranked journals and conferences; and maintenance of the same
  • A high level of written and oral communication skills and computer literacy
  • Demonstrated high quality experience in teaching and/or industry and evidence of continuing personal and professional development
  • Demonstrated ability to develop rapport with student in a variety of learning contexts
  • Experience working with a diverse range of students
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a part of a team

2 ] Key Responsibilities of Faculty members (including Cyber Security listing) includes:

Teaching & Learning, Management, Research and Service

  • Assisting in the development of course material
  • Conducting lectures, tutorials, practical classes, demonstrations, workshops, and student field excursions
  • Unit coordination including assignment moderation
  • Marking and Assessment Invigilation
  • Consultation with Students
  • Undertaking administrative functions as required under the direction of the Head of School or PVC
  • Attendance at departmental and/or faculty meetings and/or membership on several committees
  • Working with the Student Success Centre on student teaching and learning issues
  • Participation in school and industry outreach
  • Contributing to marketing and outreach activities for the campus

Skills & Experience required (for Cyber Security listing):

  • An earned PhD or Masters in Computer Science
  • One or more of the following certifications:
    1. System Defence: at least one of GCWN, GCUX or CREST
    2. Traffic Analysis: GCIH, GCIA or FOR572
    3. Penetration Testing: GPEN, GWAPT, OSCP or CREST
    4. Exposure on open source solutions such as Security Onion or OSSEC
    5. CCAI Certified (desirable)
    6. Has good understanding of ISO27000 Information Security Standard and NIST's Cyber Security Framework and other Cyber Security Standards
    7. Practical experience of Penetration Testing
    8. Practical knowledge of topics like SQLi and XSS injection and fix, Numeric overflow exploitation in Java, Secure programming in C, x64 stack overflow exploitation, Secure Programming in C and Java
    9. Thorough knowledge of security protocols and cryptography
    10. Practical knowledge of Wireshark, Snort and other networking tools
  • Cyber Security Concepts, Cyber Crime, Security Enhanced Programming, Cyber Security Intrusion Detection System, and / or Incident Handling.
