About the position

NHH in Bergen, Norway, invites applications for a position as Assistant Professor in Sustainable Business with specialization on quantitative empirical approaches to sustainability reporting and sustainable business models at the Department of Accounting, Auditing and Law. The candidate will be affiliated with the Centre for Sustainable Business, which does research on the aforementioned topics in close collaboration with business organizations.

We seek ambitious candidates early in their careers who have relevant research experience and teaching capabilities within the field of sustainable business. We are particularly interested in candidates with competence on sustainable business models, sustainability reporting and specifically experimental and otherwise quantitative empirical approaches to these phenomena.

The Department offers a stimulating research environment with internationally renowned research groups. The current announcement is part of a strategy to strengthen our research capacity in the field of Sustainable Business. The duration of the contract for this position is four years.

Applicants will be assessed on an overall evaluation of their confirmed professional competence. The position requires a doctoral degree in economics or business administration from an accredited institution. Scientific competence will be evaluated in terms of the amount and quality of research in the field of sustainable business and research ideas within the same field. Demonstrated ability to combine theory and empirical analysis (including experiments), and the potential to publish in leading academic journals, will be given weight. As the Centre for Sustainable Business relies on an active international network of research collaborators, experience with building such networks will count favorably.

Faculty members at NHH are expected to be good teachers. Candidates must be fluent in English, and preferably, also in the Scandinavian language. The appointee is expected to be involved in teaching on average of one course per year and do some student supervision in degree programs at bachelor, master and PhD levels. It is beneficial if the candidate has experience teaching either sustainability reporting, sustainable business models or both, as the department has existing master courses within both topics. Formal pedagogical education and practical experience with teaching will count positively for the job.

The Centre for Sustainable Business has a portfolio of externally funded research projects and aims for attracting more research grants. The appointee is expected to take part in the work with developing grant applications. Experience with grant application processes at national (e.g. RCN) or international (e.g. EU Horizon) will count favorably.

Salary is negotiable according to Norwegian State Salary Scale for Assistant Professor. External research grants and teaching in executive programs offer opportunities for supplementing this salary.
