Esade is seeking to appoint one faculty member in the area of environmental sustainability. The position can be filled at the rank of assistant professor (tenure track) or early stage associate professor (post tenure). We are particularly interested in scholars with an interest in research and teaching on topics around the role of organizations for achieving environmental sustainability such as climate change, circular economy, biodiversity, or regenerative business. We are open for candidates with an interdisciplinary background as long as the core interest focuses on the role of organizations for achieving environmental sustainability. The successful candidate is expected to join Esade in September 2022 or earlier, if possible. The candidate must have completed a PhD or equivalent program at the time of joining the school, demonstrate a clear trajectory of scholarship in the area of specialization, and the potential and motivation to publish in leading management journals. The candidate is also expected to demonstrate potential for high-quality teaching in the school’s diverse portfolio of undergraduate, postgraduate, and executive education programs. In particular, the candidate is expected contribute to the development of new programs in the field of sustainability.

The Department of Society, Politics, and Sustainability at Esade comprises a growing, dynamic, and dedicated group of scholars focused on addressing the role of organizations for tackling environmental and social grand challenges from various social science perspectives. Faculty members work on topics including but not limited to climate change, paradoxes in sustainability, regenerative business, private environmental governance, social impact, sustainable business models, poverty, precariousness, business ethics, stakeholder engagement, social innovation, and responsible leadership. The candidate will also join Esade’s Institute for Social Innovation (ISI). The Institute focuses on developing meaningful research, pedagogical content, educational programs and interventions in the public sphere to help students, citizens and organizations to address the social challenges related to sustainability, exclusion, vulnerability, and precariousness. Together, our research spans different environmental and social challenges from the perspective of different organizational, political, sociological, and philosophical approaches. The Department also constantly strives to enhance the relevance and impact of our pedagogy and classroom experience. Under this general motivation, our research spans different perspectives and methodologies.

Esade comprises a business school and a law school, currently spread across three campuses: Barcelona - Pedralbes, Barcelona - Sant Cugat, and Madrid. In turn, Esade is a member of Ramon Llull University. The school’s mission is to

The compensation, research support and teaching requirements that accompany this position are competitive. Moreover, assistance will be given towards the cost of relocation. Speaking Spanish or Catalan is not a requirement, though support in learning languages can be provided if desired.
