FACULTY POSITIONS IN BLOCKCHAIN AND DIGITAL CURRENCY

The School of Business at the University of Nicosia invites applications for full-time and part-time faculty positions in the field of Blockchain and Digital Currency.

The UNIC School of Business is a global leader in blockchain technology and cryptocurrency – UNIC was the first university in the world to offer an accredited degree on the topic of blockchain technology and cryptocurrency, the first to publish academic certificates and diplomas to the blockchain and has the largest team in academia working on these topics.

The MSc program in Blockchain and Digital Currency is hosted by the Department of Digital Innovation, a multidisciplinary research led department that that collaborates with leading organizations in Blockchain and transformative technologies. It acts as advisor for the European Union through the European Blockchain Observatory and Forum which aims to accelerate the blockchain innovation development and adoption. It also assists EU in the development of the European Blockchain Service Infrastructure.

The positions

The responsibilities of the position include the following:

  • Teaching graduate-level courses related to blockchain and digital assets. Specific courses will be related to the background and expertise of the faculty member and may be related to areas including, but not limited to, the following:
    1. Decentralized Finance(DeFi),
    2. Financial Technologies(FinTech)
    3. Token Economics
    4. Non Fungible Tokens(NFTs)
    5. Open and Decentralized Financial Systems
    6. Principles of money, banking and finance
    7. Smart contracts programming
    8. Permissioned and permissionless programming
    9. Cryptographic systems security
    10. Introduction to Blockchain
    11. Introduction to Digital Assets
    12. Policy and Regulation for Digital Assets
    13. Applications of Blockchain
    14. Convergence of Blockchain with other Technologies
  • Carrying out research work, applying for research grants, and publishing in high-impact factor academic journals
  • Supervising student theses at the master’s and PhD levels
  • Undertaking administrative work at the Department and/or School including the development of new programs and assisting in accreditation of existing programs

The person

Candidates should possess a PhD in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Management, Finance, Economics, Social Sciences or similar, as well as experience (teaching and/or research) related to Blockchain and/or Digital Assets. The teaching & research experience, as well as publication record, of the candidates should be commensurate with the faculty rank they apply for (Lecturer, Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, Professor). A PhD is not required only for Teaching Assistant applicants. Administrative experience in academia will be considered a plus
