Since the establishment of IUE, Faculty of Business offers a wide range of undergraduate programs including Economics, Business Administration, Logistics Management, Political Science and International Relations, Accounting and Auditing, International Trade and Finance. IUE invites applications for 3 assistant professorships in the fields of Accounting, Economics and Finance. The appointments are expected to commence latest September 1, 2022, and the selected candidates are expected to relocate to Izmir.

In the field of Accounting IUE is looking for candidates who have

  • Ph.D. degree in accounting or a closely related field from a recognized institution,
  • A strong research orientation demonstrated by capacity to publish in leading peer-reviewed journals (SSCI),
  • Teaching experience in financial accounting, intermediate accounting, advanced accounting, and/or cost accounting in English at different levels (undergraduate and master),
  • Desire to build and work in business networks to develop industry-oriented projects,
  • Preferably experience in developing accounting course contents at undergraduate and graduate levels.

In the field of Economics IUE is looking for candidates who have

  • Ph.D. degree in economics or a closely related field from a recognized institution,
  • A research interest in industrial organization, quantitative economics and/or econometrics, (however, outstanding candidates in all fields of economics will be considered)
  • The desire to contribute to teaching the quantitative economics and data analytics courses offered by the Department and Faculty.
  • A strong research orientation demonstrated by capacity to publish in leading peer-reviewed journals (SSCI) and who would complement and extend existing teaching and research strengths within the Department of Economics (

In the field of Finance IUE is looking for candidates who have

  • Ph.D. degree in finance or a closely related field from a recognized institution, preferably in quantitative finance.
  • A strong research orientation, demonstrated by capacity to publish in the high-quality peer-reviewed research publications (SSCI)
  • Evidence of excellent teaching achievements in English at different levels (undergraduate, master and doctoral levels), including teaching ratings, and awards.
  • Excellence in quantitative research methods with advanced software skills
  • Proven teaching experience in finance or related courses
  • Ability to merge theoretical knowledge with practical relevance and to build and manage relationships with practitioners (e.g., company-oriented research projects)
  • Desire to collaborate in a collegial and dynamic research team.

The candidates will be expected to:

  • Publish regularly in internationally recognized peer-reviewed journals
  • Contribute meaningfully to the visibility of IUE in the media and the society at large
  • Teach high-quality and innovative courses at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level
  • Participate actively in service activities (e.g., supervise master theses, participate in student selection and recruitment, service in committees, representation of the school at events), in proportion with the academic rank
  • Take part in the department’s activities (e.g., research workshops, friendly reviews)
  • Assume, when appropriate, academic responsibilities in program development or research
