Context
Created in 1907, ESSEC is a leading business school with French roots and global outreach: two campuses in the Paris metropolitan area, one in Singapore, one in Morroco (Rabat), and one fully digital campus. ESSEC offers bachelor and graduate level training in business administration (GBBA, MSc, MBA, EMBA, Specialized Masters, PhD), which stand in top-tier of international rankings. ESSEC has a long tradition of exploring, teaching and researching how strategy and management may be mobilized to further the public good.
Over the past 10 years, ESSEC has been building up its teaching capacity and expertise in the area of geopolitics / international relations. Indeed, demand from students and the school’s various stakeholders is growing fast in this area, especially with a focus on transition & environmental issues, as sustainability has become central to the school strategy.
In this context, ESSEC is aiming to recruit a Professor of Management Practice. While they are not expected to publish research, Professors of Management Practice are experts in their field, have accumulated experience in various organizations beyond academia, and have a demonstrated teaching capability.
The new recruit will join the Private and Public Policy Department: it comprises about 15 faculty members, with expertise in Law, Negotiation, Geopolitics & International Relations, Urban Policy, Real Estate, Public Policy, Social Innovation and Philanthropy. Within the Department, s/he will join ESSEC’s Institute for Research and Education on Negotiation (IRENE). Established in 1996, IRENE is a resource centre in negotiation & conflict resolution, international relations & geopolitics, governance & defence issues. Beyond its research and publications activities, IRENE’s team delivers fieldwork activities and is regularly contracted by diplomatic academies, the European Commission or EEAS. It delivers trainings for more than 3.000 people a year in higher education institutions (ENA-INSP, Bruges, etc.), companies, and public organizations (EU, Foreign Affairs ministries & diplomatic academies, Defence ministry, etc.). IRENE has accomplished activities in 80+ countries as of today.
Mission
Based on the ESSEC Cergy Campus, nearby Paris, the recruit will join the Public and Private Policy academic department, and will work closely with IRENE to develop the following activities:
The recruit will be offered a permanent contract (CDI under French law), 4-day a week, renewable, with a competitive package.

Typical profiles could be people having acquired significant professional experience in a think tank, an NGO, an international public organization, a ministry of Foreign Affairs, etc.
