The Department of Accounting and Control of the Faculty of Business and Economics at the University of Lausanne invites applications for a

Graduate Assistant in Accounting and Control (Ph.D.)

Date of start: 01.09.2022 or to be agreed
Duration of contract: 1 year. This contract is renewable twice for two years. The total maximum duration is 5 years.
Employment rate: 80% the 1st year, then 100%
Work location: Lausanne Dorigny

Required qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Accounting or in a closely related field (Finance, Information Systems, Economics, Management) with a very strong academic record
  • Genuine interest in accounting research
  • Excellent command of English
  • Strong quantitative skills. Programming skills are an advantage (Python, R, Stata).
  • Eligible to enter the PhD program of the Faculty of Business and Economics and willing to complete a doctoral thesis in the area of Accounting or Control

Job description

  • Attractive working environment with a strong focus on current topics in international accounting research. Participation in international courses and conferences will be strongly supported. The PhD program provides students with core competencies in research methods as well as sound knowledge of the institutional details in their field.
  • A maximum of 50% of the regular working hours will be spent on the realization of a doctoral thesis in Financial Accounting
  • A maximum of 50% of the regular working hours will be spent assisting with teaching or research tasks (teaching activities under a professor’s responsibility. Research work that is not linked to personal research and technical or administrative tasks that pertain the department’s teaching or research activities)
