Postdoctoral position in Operations Research/Management

IÉSEG School of Management - Lille Economics and Management (LEM, CNRS) invite applications for a temporary, fully funded Postdoctoral position in Operations Research/ Management on its Lille campus starting in January 2023.

The postdoctoral researcher will join a small research team to conduct high-quality research. The research work planned in the post-doctoral position consists of extending multi-objective algorithms to solve planning and scheduling problems in health care. Considering stakeholders’ preferences in this highly constrained environment has been less addressed by the scientific community and deserves more attention. The goal of the post-doc is to propose multi-objective algorithms using exact optimization methods combined with evolutionary approaches to build solutions in a reasonable amount of time. To this end, the postdoctoral researcher will collaborate with Professor Christine Di Martinelly (Click here for profile) at IÉSEG School of Management. He/she will receive regular mentorship and be expected to disseminate their research by submitting academic manuscripts to top management journals such as those of the ABS list.

  • A Ph.D. in operations research/management, computer sciences, industrial engineering, or related discipline.
  • A solid research background in mathematical programming, discrete optimization, and evolutionary algorithm.
  • A proven research track record.
  • Experiences in developing analytical models in his (or her) past research projects.
  • Excellent programming skills (e.g., Java/C++, Matlab).
  • Be fluent in English.

The selected applicant is expected to begin his (or her) assignment in January 2023. The appointment is for 12 months with possible 6 additional months. Gross salary will be competitive with other European research and academic institutions. The researcher will be based in Lille (on the site of IÉSEG School of Management).
The selected candidate will also be involved with some teaching activities at the Operations Management Department, though to a limited extend.

The candidate is expected to conduct research and write papers on research projects with the other team members. In addition, the candidate will have the opportunities to exchange with an international network of scholars specializing in the areas of operations research/management.
