The Entrepreneurship foundation in Lund announces a three-year postdoc stipend within entrepreneurship at the Department of Business Administration, Lund University School of Economics and Management.

The candidate will work and contribute within the research area "Entrepreneurial Education and Learning”, coordinated by Sten K. Johnson Centre for Entrepreneurship (SKJCE), Department of Business Administration, Lund University.

This research area departs from the observation that entrepreneurial education has emerged into a broad spectrum of learning objectives with large variations on the content that is delivered in the classroom and the learning outcomes that are expected. The post-doc project aims to contribute to the development of theoretical and empirical knowledge about teaching effectiveness contingent on pedagogical approaches and teaching methods. The project's research activities are aimed at exploring what happens in the entrepreneurial classroom when different teaching methods are applied, and how different methods influence conceptual and experiential learning and the development of entrepreneurial competencies. The research project is connected to ongoing research at SKJCE and the researcher will be embedded in a network of researchers in Sweden and abroad.

We seek a candidate who is interested in developing this line of research of “Entrepreneurial Education and Learning” with a deep interest and specialization in entrepreneurial education studies. It will be up to the individual candidate to give form and content to the research project based on the theoretical and empirical interest of the candidate. As such, we are open to approaching the phenomenon of entrepreneurial education and learning from a variety of perspectives such as space, speed, temporality, and gender etc. It is meriting with experience of experimental research methods.

The expectations of the recruited postdoc are to conduct research of high quality relevant to the research area outlined, publish in internationally leading journals, communicate research findings outside of academia, collaborate with members of the research group, and engage in further development of the research area and the broader field of entrepreneurship studies at the department.

Sten K. Johnson Centre for Entrepreneurship (SKJCE) is an active and internationally recognized arena for high-class entrepreneurship education and research. SKJCE conducts research in areas such as entrepreneurial learning and education, academic entrepreneurship, entrepreneurship ownership and finance, social entrepreneurship, the entrepreneurship industry, and immigrant entrepreneurship.

ASSESSMENT CRITERIA AND QUALIFICATIONS

This is a career development position primarily focused on research. In addition to the three year research stipend, it is possible and recommended to teach and supervise on courses within entrepreneurship studies, or Business Adminstration more broadly (maximum 20%).

The assessment of the applicants will primarily be based on their research qualifications and potential as researchers. The main assessment criteria are as follows:

  • A completed PhD within the subject of the position or a related topic, completed no more than five years (adjustments may be done due to sick leave or parental leave)
  • Proficiency in English (verbal and written).
  • A high-quality dissertation.
  • Documented experience in experimental research method.
  • Convincing research plan for future research within “Entrepreneurial Education and Learning”.
  • Clear indications of emerging independent research activities after the doctoral degree and on topics other than the applicants’ doctoral thesis
  • Demonstrate competence and interest in the research area Entrepreneurial Education and Learning or similar
  • Documented experience of publishing entrepreneurship research in academic journals and/or books

Consideration will also be given to good collaborative skills, enthusiasm for research, ability to conduct research independently, ability to initiate and complete projects, and how the applicant’s experience and skills complement and strengthen ongoing research within the Sten K. Johnson Centre for Entrepreneurship.

TERMS OF THE POST-DOC STIPEND

The researcher is funded through a full-time post-doc stipend for 3 years. The stipend includes SEK 350.000 per year, and covers the cost of living (SEK 335.000), and insurance (SEK 15.000 SEK). The research fellow will be placed at Sten K. Johnson Centre for Entrepreneurship, Department of Business Administration, Lund University.

  • CV detailing the candidate’s education, teaching experience, and list of publications and working papers (with an * marking of the academic productions to be considered during the review).
  • Any relevant information indicating experience in research management, industry co-operation, and international co-operation.
  • A research plan of no more than 5 pages (2 000 words) presenting a topic to be investigated and sources of data and methodology to be used within the focus of the postdoc project.
  • Three letters of recommendation.
  • Copies of up to five selected publications or working papers.
