Professor of Management Practice in Entrepreneurship

In order to accommodate the growing needs in Entrepreneurship Education at ESSEC Business School, we are recruiting a bilingual French / English Professor of Management Practice in Entrepreneurship, who will join us in delivering excellent pedagogical training and coaching for aspiring and practicing entrepreneurs and innovators. The position is based in our Cergy (Paris) campus, and ideally starting January 2023.

True to its pioneering spirit, ESSEC Business School has developed a vibrant ecosystem of students, alumni, entrepreneurs and large ventures that all connect to the school as a platform.
“Enlightening Entrepreneurship” is one of the three strategic axes of the school, and 100% of students in degree programs are required to follow courses on entrepreneurship. We have 140 student startups per year in the ESSEC Ventures incubator, and operate a large ecosystem with partners to develop entrepreneurial capabilities among our students. The opportunity ahead is fantastic and requires an ambitious, talented and dedicated person who is knowledgeable about and can thrive within Paris’s (and regional ) entrepreneurship and innovation ecosystem.


The professor will join the Centre for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, which consists of a growing team that provides entrepreneurship and innovation services to the ESSEC community. The mission of the Professor of Management Practice will be to work together with the existing team in teaching and coaching students, and developing new pedagogical content about entrepreneurship and innovation across the full plethora of programs at ESSEC.


We expect the PMP to be involved in both teaching and coordination activities, for courses and activities, including:

  • Introduction to Entrepreneurship (face-to-face and online courses in undergraduate, graduate and executive education)
  • New Venture Design & Planning (idea-to-venture applied entrepreneurship course)
  • Advanced Entrepreneurship (face-to-face seminars on advanced entrepreneurial issues)
  • Industry-specific entrepreneurial courses (biotech / fintech / cleantech / foodtech …) according to the PMP’s experience
  • Overall academic oversight of entrepreneurial offer in specific programs (BBA / MIM / Specialized Masters / executive education)

The PMP will also be expected to participate in pedagogical activities including admission juries, student recruitment, among others, and to develop new pedagogical content and initiatives, such as course material, textbooks, case studies, MOOCs, SPOCs, digital content or other, that reinforce ESSEC’s relevance in the domain of entrepreneurship and innovation.

Person Specifications/ Requirements

Given the above-mentioned mission and job responsibilities, the job incumbent will be based in Cergy and must share the ambition for ESSEC and its future in entrepreneurship and innovation and be appealed by the challenge to build the entrepreneurship initiative for ESSEC. He/She/They must also possess requirements mentioned below:

  1. First and foremost, be a team player
  2. Have significant personal experience in entrepreneurship and/or innovation
  3. Have significant previous experience in teaching entrepreneurship and/or innovation, preferably both in English and in French.
  4. Possessing an advanced degree (e.g., MSc, MBA), academic certification (Doctorate or PhD), or other relevant professional certifications will be a plus.
  5. Advanced knowledge about the academic and practical discourse on entrepreneurship and innovation, and an open, non-dogmatic mind about it.
  6. Close links with the business world and proven experience in business development and/or new pedagogical content creation.
