WHU invites applications for the position of

Assistant Professor in Retail Analytics (m/f)

funded by the hypermarket chain real of Metro. The appointment is situated at WHU’s Campus in Vallendar, starting as soon as possible. The candidate will have continuously access to company data and senior experts in both stationary and online retailing. Past and ongoing projects include, among others, i) promotion fore-casting and optimization, ii) churn prediction and mitigation, iii) category optimiza-tion, iv) store traffic prediction and staffing, v) omnichannel retailing, and vi) online customer communication and interaction.

Academic Environment

WHU has more than 50 faculty members in the fields of management, finance and accounting, economics, entrepreneurship and innovation, marketing and sales, and supply chain management. Research at WHU aims to adhere to three principles: quality, internationality, and relevance to business practice.

Job Description

  • Teaching in the various WHU degree programs (in English) of business ana-lytics courses with a strong focus on retailing, e-commerce, and supply chain management
  • Performing research in the relevant field
  • Developing and maintaining the corporate connections with real and Metro

Job Qualifications

  • Relevant Ph.D. degree or equivalent academic qualification
  • Distinguished track record in research
  • Teaching experience, especially in English
  • Outstanding English communication skills
  • Retail affinity and international experience are advantageous
