The mobility of academics is considered a fundamental lever for the production of scientific knowledge. Starting from data on a large sample of individuals, the project aims to map the mobility of the Italian academic context, identifying the antecedents, understanding their impact and proposing implications for the individual, for the single disciplines and Universities and for the entire academic system. This information will be integrated with data on the population of academics in Italy, originating a unique database that will allow an all-encompasing analysis of the
phenomenon. Moreover, given the complexity of the information processed, the project will combine typical social science approaches with semantic publishing techniques typical of computer engineering.
