Postdoctoral stipend in Entrepreneurial Finance

The Entrepreneurship foundation in Lund announces a three-year postdoc stipend within entrepreneurship at the Department of Business Administration, Lund University School of Economics and Management.

We are looking for one Postdoctoral Researcher in entrepreneurship with research experience and an interest in:

  1. innovative forms of finance for new and small firms such as Crowdfunding, Initial Coin Offerings as well as alternative informal forms of finance, and/or
  2. entrepreneurship and ownership/corporate governance: the role that small firms’ ownership plays on the financing strategy firms decide to implement (mix of Capital and Debt as well as the selection of different providers of Equity and Debt).

The position connects to ongoing research at the Department that focuses on the role of ownership and management in financing new and small firms by exploring the owners’/managers’ interest in the different sources of finance.

Research will be conducted under the auspices of the Sten K. Johnson Centre for Entrepreneurship (SKJCE), an active and internationally recognized arena for high-class entrepreneurship education and research. SKJCE has a strong world recognised research tradition in the areas of entrepreneurial finance as well as entrepreneurial learning and education, academic entrepreneurship, social entrepreneurship, and immigrant entrepreneurship.


This is a career development position primarily focused on research, intended as an initial step towards taking on a professorship in the future. To be qualified the applicant holds (or is expected to complete by the end of 2020) a PhD in relevant area with a focus on entrepreneurial finance and/or entrepreneurship and ownership/corporate governance. The assessment of the applicants will primarily be based on their research qualifications and potential as researchers as presented below.

  1. ability to develop and conduct high quality research;
  2. command of econometrics and experience in the of use Stata or R;
  3. skills in conducting qualitative research;
  4. English language skills (verbal and written);

Publications in the area, submitted papers to academic journals, attendance to conferences in Finance and/or Entrepreneurship area as well as capability to obtain research funds are preferred but not essential.

Coding skills and experience is also preferred but not essential.

Consideration will also be given to good collaborative skills, enthusiasm for research, ability to conduct research independently, and how the applicant’s experience and skills complement and strengthen ongoing research within SKJCE, and how they stand to contribute to its future development.


This position is funded thanks to a donation by Tetra Laval Foundation. The post-doc is a full-time scholarship for 3 years. The stipend includes SEK 350.000 per year, and covers the cost of living. The stipend-holder will be placed at SKJCE, Department of Business Administration, Lund University School of Economics and Management.

The applicant is expected to cooperate and coordinate his/her research with the current research pursued by academics of SKJCE in the area of financing of new and small firms.

The position is 100% full-time research for three years so that the researcher doesn’t have to teach or do any admin duties. Nevertheless, the researcher might be offered the chance to deliver some teaching (particularly in the area of the research pursued) if needed and suitable.
