2/ Job purpose and main duties

Under the responsibility of the Dean, the Director of Programmes is responsible for:

  • Managing the programme directors; driving the implementation of existing programme developments in line with the expectations of companies and students; contributing to the development of the course catalogue in France and overseas in collaboration with the academic value chain, including: the Faculty and Research Department, the Academic Quality Assurance Department, the Business Engagement Department, and all other relevant support services,
  • Set up and run the Programme Managers’ Management Committee and manage the allocated budget,
  • Successfully manage the running, synergy, transformation and optimisation (in terms of human, financial and technical resources) of all higher education and continuing education programmes by ensuring their operational efficiency and academic excellence,
  • Ensuring the coherence of courses (in terms of content and pedagogy) with the wider programme strategy (course structure and schedule, skills development of students),
  • In collaboration with the Programme Directors, the Innovation Manager and the Faculty and Research Department, develop and lead thinking on pedagogical innovation in the fields of higher and continuing education, notably in order to improve teaching & learning by introducing wider innovation initiatives and developing learning by doing approaches,
  • For pedagogical aspects, represent MBS in meetings involving national and international higher education authorities and bodies,
  • Contribute to improving the quality of the student experience either directly or in collaboration with others:
  1. Create a distinctive MBS student experience in line with the institution’s values,
  2. Work with the student bodies to improve the quality of the Students’ Union,
  3. Help and support students throughout the MBS value chain from before (applicants) to after (alumni) their studies.
  • Contribute operationally and transversally (in collaboration with other departments) to:
  1. The management of overseas students,
  2. Employment opportunities: business placements and work-study schemes,
  3. The development of business offers to companies,
  4. National and international accreditation processes,
  5. The effective management of adjunct professors.

3/ Person specification

Previous experience and essential qualifications

  • Experience of teaching or teaching/research and educated to PhD level,
  • Knowledge of business schools and their inherent challenges,
  • Experience of high-profile programme management in an international context,
  • Management experience of Executive Education,
  • Experience of managing significant numbers of students.

  • Service-oriented and performance-focussed culture, where the student experience is seen as paramount,
  • Strong leadership skills; able to motivate and inspire collaboration around shared objectives,
  • Ability to participate and implement the strategy of the School,
