The University of Milano-Bicocca was founded in 1998 with the aim of making research the strategic foundation of all institutional activity. Research intended as an expansion of knowledge and qualification of training, as a tool for relating to the territory and as a contribution to the development of the production system. The University is located in the Milan district of Bicocca, once the site of large and historic industries such as Pirelli and Breda. The University has stable and intense relationships with the business world and pays particular attention to the territorial reality in which it is inserted, without however forgetting the international dimension. Internationalization is achieved through 641 agreements with institutions from over 40 countries and 10 double degree agreements with EU and non-EU countries. The University of Milan-Bicocca is a multidisciplinary university that trains professionals in various fields; the educational offer, which attracts about 33,000 students, is divided into 70 courses of study divided into seven different subject areas: economic-statistical, legal, medical, psychological, sociological, scientific and training. There are 17 PhD courses coordinated by a single School and 37 Specialization Schools. Research takes place in 14 Departments and 46 research centers. Almost 900 teachers and researchers work in the University of Milan-Bicocca and about 1,500 doctoral students, postgraduates and postdocs.

The Department of Business and Law at the University of Milano-Bicocca provides a dynamic research environment in which faculty members and distinguished visitors conduct applied research in all areas of business and law. It is a highly interdisciplinary department where the integration between skills of business, finance, legal and economic disciplines pursue the aim of ensuring a high economic and social impact of teaching and scientific research. Particular attention is paid to the themes of innovation and sustainable development for constant updating of skills useful to successfully operate in the economic and professional environment. The department belongs to the School of Economics and Statistics of the University of Milano-Bicocca

The Banking and Finance Group at the Department is well-known for its leading banking and finance research and quality of publications. The research activity spans into four main areas: SMEs access to finance – spanning from traditional to alternative finance solutions; bank management and its regulation; financial literacy and education; asset pricing and financial markets efficiency. Faculty members have strong expertise in applying statistical and modeling techniques as well as in the design of experiments and field experiments to analyze data in various forms. The group's mission is to generate relevant and reliable insights that can contribute to the advancement of Finance as a discipline and provide policy recommendations to support industry players, regulators and policy makers.

Expected Activities

The selected candidate will be required to deliver advanced courses in Banking or Finance in English or Italian, in postgraduate degrees and in research doctorate courses. The contract shall schedule 120 hours of teaching per year at the School of Economics and Statistics)

The selected candidate must participate actively and consistently in the international communities of his field of interest and the department activities and contribute significantly to their enhancement.

He/she will be required to carry out scientific research of high international quality in the field of financial intermediation and/or corporate finance, consistent with the research lines activated by the Department, with a specific focus on financial innovation
