About the Position

Up to five 100% positions are available at the University of Agder, the School of Business and Law, as PhD Research Fellows in International Business for a period of three years. Depending on the applicants’ profile and academic experience, some might be offered four-year positions including 25% teaching or other tasks at the School of Business and Law. The positions are located at Campus Kristiansand. The starting date is in March/April 2022.

The School of Business and Law at the University of Agder is a high-grade AACSB -accredited business school in Norway. Our PhD program is one of Europe’s leading programs in the field of International Business. We offer our candidates generous funding and equip them with a global mindset and modern research skills. The program includes around 50 candidates from across the globe working closely with their highly motivated supervisors. To maintain and further strengthen the School of Business and Law’s strong position in the field of International Business, we will start up a new PhD-cohort in 2022. Priority may be given to projects involving more than one year at a partner and/or cotutelle university abroad. The project should be within the field of International Business, broadly defined. In addition, it is an advantage if the project is positioned in accordance with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. In our program, we stress a strong match between candidates’ research interest and the competence and research focus of a suggested supervisor. Required Qualifications

  • A master’s degree (300 ECTS including a master thesis) in a business school field like International Business, Management, Strategy, Marketing, Entrepreneurship, Finance or Economics. Candidates who are in the closing stages of their master’s degree can apply.
  • A research proposal with a strong academic match with the suggested supervisor.
  • Fluent knowledge of English, both written and oral.
  • For some of the positions, fluency in a Scandinavian language might be required.
  • A prerequisite for employment is that the candidate is to be admitted to UiA’s PhD program at the School of Business and Law.

Further, it is required that the candidates attend PhD-program activities and actively participate in the school’s research environment.

Accepted candidates from outside the European Union are required to secure needed Schengen visa in due time.

Desired Qualifications

  • A MSc and/or BSc degree from a highly ranked university, preferably AACSB accredited.
  • Strong qualifications in applied research methods.
  • A research proposal with strong academic potential.
  • Relevant experience in international business and/or research.
  • Emphasis will be placed on the applicant’s examination results, as well as any previous research activities and international experience.

Personal Qualities

  • Ability to work in a goal-oriented, organized, focused and independent manner.
  • Ability to handle stress and work with deadlines.
  • Good teamwork skills.
  • Personal qualities and suitability for the position will be emphasized.

The position is remunerated according to the State Salary Scale, salary plan 17.515, code 1017 PhD Research Fellow, NOK 491 200 gross salary per year. A compulsory pension contribution to the Norwegian Public Service Pension Fund is deducted from the pay according to current statutory provisions.

  • Other important documentation like results from tests like GMAT/GRE/TOEFL etc. (if available).

Original documents of the certificates/diplomas and transcripts of records or authenticated copies of the original documents with stamp, date, and readable signature from a public office (e.g., university, college, or police) must be presented before the appointment.
