The Telfer School of Management at the University of Ottawa invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Health Informatics and Information Systems at the rank of Associate or Full Professor commencing on July 1st, 2022 or earlier.

  1. Teaching activities: The candidate should be interested in and able to teach in Health Informatics, Information Systems, Health Systems Management, and possibly Analytics at the undergraduate, professional and graduate (MSc and/or Ph.D.) levels and engage in supervision of graduate students. Experience collaborating with the health care industry and health care agencies, curriculum development and program delivery in health informatics or information systems, as well as mentorship to students engaged in health systems research, are considered strong assets.
  2. Scholarly activities: The candidate should demonstrate: a solid track record of publication in peer-reviewed scientific journals in Health Informatics and/or Information Systems; participation and publications in top health informatics and/or information systems conferences; a successful track record of funding proposals to external granting agencies; an established research program in Health Informatics, Information Systems, or other domains dealing with use of information technology in health care.
  3. Academic service activities as agreed with the Dean.


  • Education: Ph.D. in Health Informatics, Information Systems, or other related management disciplines with a demonstrated expertise in information technologies and their applications in health care.
  • Language: English and/or French. Passive knowledge of the other official language in Canada is a requirement for tenure. The ability to teach in both official languages is an asset.
  • Work experience:
  1. A high-potential research program as demonstrated by articles published in high quality and high impact peer-reviewed journals in the area of Health Informatics, Information Systems, or Health Care Management. Applicants are expected to demonstrate a track record of success in attracting competitive research funding and active engagement in the academic community.
  2. Strong teaching competency at the undergraduate, professional, MSc and/or Ph.D. levels as demonstrated by past teaching record and evaluations.
  3. Experience in graduate and/or postdoctoral student supervision as evidenced by having a record of graduating and publishing with students.

Salary and Benefits Package:

Salaries are competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience where Associate Professor salaries typically range between $140,000 and $166,000 per year and Full Professors salaries range between $165,000 and $201,000 per year. The University of Ottawa provides a complete and generous compensation package which includes long-term disability, basic group life insurance, supplementary health insurance, a University of Ottawa defined benefits pension plan, optional life insurance and funds for reimbursement of eligible moving expenses. The School also offers a start-up period with a reduced teaching load and start-up funding for research.
