SKEMA Business School ( invites applications for two positions at the Assistant/Associate or Full Professor rank, in the sustainability area, to begin August 2022. Positions will be located on our Paris or Lille campus. The successful candidate will develop and/or lead academic research projects with the aim of publishing in the field's highest quality journals.

We encourage applications from exceptional scholars who investigate how the private sector, civil society, and governments can make our world more sustainable. Interdisciplinary research is particularly welcome, notably in issues related to climate change, biodiversity, pollution, economic and political stability, migration, existential risks. Applicants are expected to share frontier research with students in innovative courses. They may be asked to teach online or on campus-based undergraduate and/or graduate level courses. They are also expected to contribute to student mentorship, to projects related to SKEMA SKY25 corporate strategy, and to be actively engaged in other service initiatives, including student selection processes. If appropriate, s/he may take on a coordination role.

The positions are permanent with a full-time contract. Salary and conditions are competitive, in line with international standards. SKEMA Business School offers publication bonuses for peer-reviewed publications, following the French CNRS Journals Ranking list. The language of work and instruction is English. Knowledge of French is not required, and we will not use it as a criterion for selection. SKEMA Business School offers support in learning French.

Qualifications must include:

  • A Ph.D. in fields related to Sustainability (e.g. Environmental Economics, Sustainable Design, Sustainable Development, Sustainability Management) or other relevant fields.
  • Strong evidence of recent research productivity and teaching excellence in Sustainability, or related fields, including evidence of conference presentations, high quality peer-reviewed research publications, exemplary teaching ratings, and awards.
  • Ability to work as part of a team in a collegial environment.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Commitment to service and/or outreach activities.

The primary focus of RISE² (Reflections and Research in International Strategy Sustainability Entrepreneurship and Economics) Research Centre is to generate outstanding research on how business activities can be sustainable, resilient, and contribute to a better world. Our members have expertise in a variety of topics (e.g., multinational strategy, industrial behaviour, leadership, women in organisations, digital manufacturing, macroeconomics, economic development, human rights) which enable us to address sustainability and resilience issues from different but interrelated perspectives. In our research centre, qualitative and quantitative research complement each other to provide contextualised results, with both rigour and relevance. We regularly organise seminars, workshops, and we actively encourage international experts to visit us.
